Why it matters

The audit isn't late. The books are.

Audits rarely get delayed by the auditor. They get delayed because bank reconciliations are missing, invoices are scattered and nobody started until the license was about to expire. Without a signed report, some free zones won't renew your license and some businesses can't file their corporate tax return correctly. ComplyUAE starts the year-end close early so the audit is a formality.

Audit services

From year-end close to signed report, handled for you

Two services cover what UAE companies are asked for most: the annual audit, and the compliance reports that sit around it.

Annual audit

For free zone companies renewing their license, mainland companies required to appoint an auditor, Qualifying Free Zone Persons, and businesses above the corporate tax audit threshold.

Start 2โ€“3 months after year-end

Your account manager closes your books for the year, prepares the reconciliations and schedules an auditor will ask for, and coordinates the audit with a registered audit firm approved by your authority. Queries go through the portal, and the signed audited financial statements are delivered to your free zone, attached to your corporate tax return, or shared with your bank.

What we handle

  • Year-end close and trial balance review
  • Bank, receivables and payables reconciliations
  • Fixed asset and inventory schedules
  • Coordination with an approved, registered auditor
  • Answering auditor queries through the portal
  • Submitting the report to your free zone, the FTA or your bank

Documents you upload

  • Bank statements for the full year
  • Sales and purchase invoices
  • Loan, lease and major contract agreements
  • Payroll records and WPS reports
  • Prior year audited financial statements, if any
  • Trade license, MOA and share certificates

Compliance reports

For companies asked for reports by their authority, regulator, bank or investors, on top of the annual audit.

Due dates vary by report

Beyond the audit, UAE companies are asked for a steady stream of reports and declarations. Your account manager keeps track of which ones apply to your company, prepares them from the same set of records, and files them on time so your information is consistent everywhere.

  • Free zone annual compliance submissions
  • AML and goAML reporting for regulated sectors
  • Management accounts: monthly or quarterly

FAQs

Audit questions, answered

Can't find what you need? Your account manager replies within 24 hours.

Is an audit mandatory for UAE companies?

It depends on where and how your company is set up. Many free zones require an annual audit report to renew the license, mainland companies are generally required to appoint an auditor, and corporate tax rules require audited financial statements for businesses with revenue above AED 50 million and for Qualifying Free Zone Persons.

Do free zone companies need an audit to renew their license?

Several free zones, including DMCC and JAFZA, ask for audited financial statements as part of the annual renewal. Rules differ by zone, so your account manager checks your zone's requirement early in the year.

Do I need audited financial statements for corporate tax?

You do if your revenue for the tax period exceeds AED 50 million, or if you are a Qualifying Free Zone Person claiming 0% on qualifying income. Other businesses can file based on unaudited statements, though an audit can still help.

Who carries out the audit?

Audits must be carried out by a registered audit firm, and many free zones accept only auditors on their approved list. Your account manager prepares your books and coordinates with the auditor, so you deal with one person throughout.

How long does an annual audit take?

With clean, reconciled books, fieldwork can be done in a few weeks. Most delays come from missing records, so we start the year-end close soon after your financial year ends.

What documents does an auditor need?

Bank statements for the full year, sales and purchase invoices, contracts and leases, payroll records, fixed asset details, prior year accounts if any, and your license and MOA.

What compliance reports might my company need besides the audit?

Common ones include UBO register updates, free zone annual compliance submissions, AML and goAML reporting for regulated sectors, and management accounts for banks or investors.

What standards are UAE financial statements prepared under?

UAE companies generally prepare financial statements under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and audits follow International Standards on Auditing.

General information about audit and reporting requirements in the UAE. Requirements differ by emirate, free zone, regulator and company size and change from time to time; your account manager will confirm what applies to your company. Audit opinions are issued only by registered audit firms.
